Zohreh Sadati
Zohreh Sadati is a multidisciplinary artist from Tehran, Iran, currently based in Paris. She works across documentary photography, experimental cinema, painting, and performance.
Her practice centers on human dignity, women’s identity, and the social, political, and cultural structures that shape individual and collective life. Her work engages with themes of love, marginalization, and resistance, with a particular focus on LGBTQ+ and queer communities, as well as the fragile condition of the human being within society.
Sadati develops her projects within her independent platform, Studio Venus, in Paris. Her work does not aim to simply represent reality, but rather to translate lived experience — situated between memory, observation, and imagination.
Her approach is rooted in lived experience and continuous observation, while expanding toward experimental forms. Each medium becomes a distinct language through which she reconstructs fragments of human experience — sometimes intimate, sometimes political and social, and often unresolved.
In her work, narratives remain open and unstable, creating spaces of tension between identity and displacement, visibility and silence, body and environment.
Sadati began her artistic career in 2004, at the age of 15, as a theatre actress and remained professionally active in this field until 2017. She later expanded her practice toward documentary photography and visual arts. This background in theatre and multidisciplinary practice has significantly shaped the visual and narrative language of her work.
