I aim to photograph women from diverse nationalities and skin tones to address and improve racial representation in media. Media has historically favored narrow beauty standards, often marginalizing or misrepresenting many groups. My goal is to challenge these norms and celebrate the diversity, individuality, and beauty of women from underrepresented backgrounds.
The project will feature portraits of women from ethnicities such as African, Asian, Latinx, Indigenous, Middle Eastern, and mixed-race communities, showcasing a range of skin tones, body types, and ages. This initiative is deeply personal to me, as I believe diversity in media is crucial for reshaping perceptions, broadening beauty standards, and creating more inclusive narratives.
The media often portrays a narrow range of skin tones and ethnicities, marginalizing many groups. By showcasing women of varying backgrounds in authentic and empowering settings, this project can challenge these norms and promote inclusivity.
